Surviving Corona Virus (Covid 19) situation for Hotels & Tourism Business

Bhutan is a beautiful country in the Himalayas, landlocked between China & India, known as the happiest country in the world and rated as the top destination to travel in 2020 by Lonely Planet.

The Triger’s Nest (Taksang) – Paro, Bhutan

Just in when Bhutan was all set to welcome the world for a great 2020 tourism business, which actually happens to be the country’s biggest source of income, we got introduced to Corona Virus. This destroyed the whole business of tourism and hospitality. With the travel ban, travel agents got cancellations and likewise hotels.

Today, as I write this blog article, hotels & travel agents are closed for business and we have no hope for a year for business. This has a national economy impact with the dependent businesses being affected as well. People going unemployed again and sustenance being the next question. We must thank our government for working tirelessly for the wellbeing of the people. Yes, the virus is killing people and its important to contain it, however, its killing businesses which is another factor we should be concerned as well.

In such global situation, where hotels and tourism will be effected the worst, should you shut down your business or should you prepare for the future? As I see from my personal prospective, it is the right time to make a presence online and work on the details that you have always missed.

Now with business on halt, you get the time to work on the contents of your business website. May be revamp it, give it a fresh look, write blogs of the updates going around so that you increase the website traffic, work on your social media pages and keep it updated. Go to different OTAs and Travel suppliers website and register with your travel products. Take pictures, write articles, improve contents, work on branding.

From where I see, there is a lot of work you can do to get prepared for the time when corona virus is the thing of the past. As you and I know, that everything is temporary, like every night has its next morning, the good old days will be back again and its your choice to be ready for that day.
