Overview
Norbu Lingka Resort sits high above the Trongsa Valley, with the Black Mountain ranges on the horizon and Trongsa Dzong, the National Museum and surrounding monasteries only a short drive away. The property blends traditional Bhutanese art and architecture with modern comfort, and its in-house restaurant and Mandara Spa give guests reasons to stay on the property well beyond check-in.
Running a resort of this kind means keeping rooms and food and beverage moving in step — often while management is away from the property. Norbu Lingka Resort approached aBit for a system that would connect both sides of the operation and give the ownership team live visibility from anywhere.
aBit implemented eZee Absolute, a cloud-based property management system, together with eZee Optimus, a cloud-based point of sale, and completed full on-site training with the resort’s front office and F&B teams.

The challenge
Like many resorts operating outside Thimphu and Paro, Norbu Lingka Resort faced a familiar set of pressures:
- Rooms and restaurant operating separately. Restaurant charges and room folios were not connected, which meant manual reconciliation at settlement and a real risk of missed postings.
- No live view for management. Owners and managers travelling away from Trongsa had no way to check occupancy, revenue or daily sales without calling the property.
- Manual reporting and night audit. Closing the day and producing sales, tax and cashier reports took time that the team would rather spend with guests.
- Corporate and credit business handled on paper. City ledger and credit accounts needed a structured way to be raised, posted and settled.
- Staff turnover. As across Bhutan’s hospitality sector, new team members join regularly and need to be brought up to speed quickly on the systems they use every day.
The solution
eZee Absolute — Cloud Property Management System
aBit configured and trained the front office team on the full front-desk cycle:
- Check-in and check-out, with inclusions applied correctly at the point of booking
- Extra charges posted directly to the guest folio
- Reservation handling from enquiry through to arrival
- Folio splits for shared rooms, group bookings and separated billing
- Payment settlement in Cash, MBoB and City Ledger
- City ledger posting and subsequent settlement for corporate and credit business
- Operational and management reporting
- Night audit — closing the day cleanly and rolling the system forward

eZee Optimus — Cloud Point of Sale
The restaurant and F&B team were trained on the full service and settlement cycle:
- Order types — dine-in, room service and no-charge
- Payment settlement — cash, bank, room posting and credit
- Creating and managing new credit accounts
- Setting up and controlling no-charge accounts
- Revising menu rates and adding new menu items
- Table management across the restaurant floor
- Account lookup for open and settled bills
- Reporting — cashier sales detail, tax analysis and sales detail
One connected platform
Because both systems are cloud-based and integrated, a room-service order rung up in eZee Optimus posts straight to the guest folio in eZee Absolute. Front office and restaurant now work from the same live data, and no charge has to be carried across by hand.
Implementation approach
aBit’s implementation team worked on-site at the resort, taking the staff through the system in the setting they actually work in rather than through remote sessions alone.
1. Property setup and configuration. Room types, rate plans, tax structures, menus, outlets and user roles were configured to match how Norbu Lingka Resort actually operates.
2. Hands-on training by department. Front office and F&B were trained on their own workflows, using live screens and real scenarios — a walk-in check-in, a split folio, a room-service order posted to a room, a credit account settlement.
3. Settlement and reporting focus. Particular attention was given to payment settlement paths — cash, MBoB, bank, room posting, credit and city ledger — because this is where errors are most costly and hardest to unwind.
4. Night audit and day close. The team was taken through the full close-of-day process until they could run it independently.
5. Go-live and continued support. The resort went live with aBit’s team available throughout, backed by our support centre — open 8 AM to 10 PM daily including Sundays, with 24/7 online software support.
The results
- Rooms and restaurant on one system. Restaurant and room-service charges flow directly to guest folios, removing manual transfer between outlets.
- Live visibility from anywhere. Management can review occupancy, revenue, cashier sales and tax positions from any device with an internet connection, without being on the property.
- Faster, cleaner day close. Night audit and reporting are now a structured process rather than a manual reconciliation exercise.
- Structured credit and city ledger handling. Corporate accounts, credit accounts and no-charge accounts are raised, posted and settled within the system, with a clear trail.
- A team that can run it. Front office and F&B staff completed training on the full cycle and are operating the systems independently.
Why cloud
For a property in Trongsa, cloud is not a technology preference — it is a practical one. There is no server to maintain on-site, no local backup routine to remember, and no dependence on one machine in one office. Updates arrive automatically. Owners can check the property from Thimphu, from Paro, or from abroad. And when new staff join, they can be brought onto the system quickly without new hardware or new licences.
About aBit
aBit Private Limited is the authorised implementation partner for the eZee product suite in Bhutan — eZee Absolute (Cloud PMS), eZee Optimus (Cloud POS), eZee FrontDesk (on-premises PMS), eZee Burrp (on-premises POS) and eZee Centrix (Channel Manager) — alongside our own products, aBit POS and aBit Invoice, used by over 200 businesses.
Our support centre operates from 8 AM to 10 PM daily, including Sundays, with 24/7 online software support. Because staff turnover is a constant reality in Bhutan’s hospitality sector, retraining is part of how we look after our clients — not a one-off service at go-live.
aBit has automated 200+ hotels across Bhutan. See our Hospitality solutions, read how we brought RKPO Resort online, or talk to us about moving your property to the cloud.
